We need you! Earning a merit badge is more memorable and scouts are most engaged when Troop parents lead a class. Please become a counselor and sign up for as many merit badges are you have an interest in.
How to Apply to be a Merit Badge Counselor
Youth Protection Training
Complete YPT on My.Scouting.org if you haven’t already done so; save a PDF screenshot of your completion certificate.
Online Adult Application
Register as a Merit Badge Counselor online.
MBCs are registered through the Twin Bayou District, not the Troop.
Use your BSA Member ID associated with your YPT and Unit (troop) registration - 211 or 1211
Merit Badge Counselor Training (34 minutes)
Complete online training: My Training>Training Courses by Program>Scouts BSA>Scouts BSA>Merit Badge Counselor Position Specific Training. See Requirements (on the left on My Training)
MBC Information Form
Complete the hardcopy MBC Information Form.
(You can choose to register as a MBC for just our Troops)
Print, sign, and scan as a PDF
Email the 1) MBC Information Form and 2) YPT Certificate to:
