Merit Badges
Scouting America has designed merit badges that will be interesting and challenging for scouts of various ages. Some merit badges are significantly easier than others. When selecting merit badges on which to work, it is important to pick badges that are age-appropriate, otherwise a scout can be overwhelmed and get discouraged. For guidance, talk to a Merit Badge coordinator, Advancement Chair or your Scoutmaster.

How to Begin a Merit Badge
-
Choose a specific Merit Badge to begin work on. View all merit badges.
-
Contact a Merit Badge Coordinator for approval before work begins and acquire a physical Blue Card signed by a MB Coordinator (scouts do not need a Blue Card prior for merit badges begun at summer camp, a Troop-organized class, museum or fair).
-
Ask a Merit Badge Coordinator to recommend a Merit Badge counselor and to assign the counselor to him/her in Scoutbook. The counselor helps scouts earn the badge by guiding them through the requirements.
-
Work with a MB counselor individually or in a group (recommended); at summer camp (highly recommended); Merit Badge Fairs; or classes at museums.
-
Enter the Merit Badge requirements completed in Scoutbook and upload a picture of the Blue Card signed by the MB Counselor. (always keep the Blue Card).
